Autistic adults over 18 years old were vaccinated against coronavirus disease in several steps by following up the “Iran Autism Association.”
People with autism are more likely to be affected by pandemics. In addition, quarantine is much harder for them due to the possibility of contracting the virus and the complicated process of treating it. As a result, their parents and supporters prefer to keep them at home despite all difficulties.
Many of these people need ongoing rehabilitation. Covid-19 disrupts this routine. The closure of schools, the absence of classes, and rehabilitation sessions have caused many problems like exacerbation of nervous symptoms and behaviors that made quarantine much more difficult.
Therefore, following up the “Iran Autism Association,” in collaboration with Atieh Hospital and the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, adults over 18 years old, received the vaccine.
It should be mentioned that autism was the first specific disease in Iran that prioritized getting a vaccine.
We hope that these people will get out of quarantine more quickly by receiving the vaccine and continuing their educational and medical processes, Said Saiedeh Saleh Ghaffari – Executive Director of Iran Autism Association.
